From Triangle Business Journal:
Bayer CropScience is investing $17 million in a new greenhouse project.
The company, which has its North American headquarters in Research Triangle Park, is putting $17 million toward a new greenhouse at Agricenter International, located in east Memphis, Tenn. Bayer has had an office at the center since 1992. The new facility will include 40,000 square feet of growing space and open office space.
“Once completed, the Memphis Greenhouse will allow us to increase the number of traits for cotton varieties for both U.S. and global markets,” says Mike Gilbert, head of global breeding and trait development for Bayer CropScience.
Helena Chemical Company, which has its own facility at Agricenter International in Memphis, is also making an investment in the greenhouse, set to break ground in a ceremony today.
Bayer also recently opened a new $20 million greenhouse facility at its Research Triangle Park campus.
