WILMINGTON, DEL — Shareholders of DuPont (DD) voted Wednesday to merge the historic Delaware company with its former rival, the Dow Chemical Co. (DOW).
A similar meeting of Dow shareholders was occurring simultaneously in Midland, Mich., where Dow shareholders also approved the merger.
The deal had been expected to be approved. But the shareholder votes are a necessary step before federal regulators will consider the deal.
