Daily fruit consumption reduces risk of heart disease

Eating more fruit could further reduce the risk.

Scientists have found that consuming a portion and a half of fruit daily can lower the chances of heart disease by up to 40 percent.

And the more fruit you eat the better - with the benefits increasing as servings grow.

Experts say that improving the diet is "critical" to lowering the deadly heart disease epidemic which is the UK's single biggest killer. Heart disease is responsible for at least 73,000 deaths each year in Britain, an average of 200 people every day.

And there are 2.3 million people living with the devastating effects of heart disease which can make everyday tasks almost impossible.
