FDA releases new rule FMSA rule for food transport

Sanitary regulations aim to prevent contamination when moved by motor or rail.

The U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) has finalized a new rule that will help to prevent food contamination during transportation.

The rule will require those involved in transporting human and animal food by motor or rail vehicle to follow such practices as properly refrigerating food, adequately cleaning vehicles between loads, and properly protecting food during transportation.

See the Sanitary Transportation Final Rule fact sheet for additional information.

A webinar is planned for April 25 to present key pieces of the final rule.
