The government of Ghana is putting pressure on its agriculture industry to meet the quality standards required by the European Union (EU).
Cajnews Africa reports that the decision to place increased pressure on the industry follows the European bloc temporarily banning imports of vegetables from Ghana following quality concerns.
Agriculture Minister Fiifi Kwetey told Cajnews the ministry was addressing the issue.
“As a country, we will from time to time have some of these concerns. I don’t think it is the first time we have had those concerns. We are clearly going to take them on board in order to ensure that if we are going to have sustainable exports, we cannot afford to compromise on quality,” he assured.
