A 27-acre greenhouse will assume the space vacated by a Detroit public high school. The greenhouse will be used as an urban farm and all of its produce will be donated to the Detroit school system.
The facility will replace Kettering High School and will thus assume the name of Kettering Urban Agricultural Campus. A spokeswoman for the Detroit Public Schools told the Associated Press that the facility will be composed of eight hoop houses. At some point, the district plans on constructing a food processing facility on site.
