CAMARILLO, CA — Houweling’s has announced the appointment of Arie van der Giessen to the position of Corporate Head Grower commencing Sept. 1, 2016. Born and educated in the Westland of Holland, van der Giessen’s management career began there in 1980 until 1998 when he immigrated to the United States. For the last 18 years he has led the horticultural operations for successful regional and national greenhouse operators in North America.
Upon joining the company, van der Giessen will relocate to Camarillo, Calif. and oversee the horticultural management of the more than 200 acres of Houweling’s Group greenhouse farms.
“Ultimately [what excites me] is the opportunity. I’ve had wonderful experiences in my career in both Europe and North America. The opportunity to use that experience and join a dynamic business that has long been at the forefront of innovation in the greenhouse industry internationally is very exciting," says van der Giessen.
