Rutgers is offering a one-day hydroponic fruit and vegetables growing course on March 7.
The course will run 9 a.m.-4 p.m. and will be hosted at the Rutgers EcoComplex and Greenhouse, 1200 Florence-Columbus Road, Bordentown N.J.
The course is for novices; those who might be considering adding hydroponic growing to their pre-existing production or are merely curious about whether or not the method would work for them. Subjects to be covered include: the advantages and disadvantages of different hydroponic systems, managing greenhouse climate, lighting requirements, water and nutrient management, and marketing and economics.
Participants will also have the option to tour a state-of-the-art greenhouse. This will afford them the opportunity to see, up close, a number of hydroponic growing systems. There will also be vendor displays where participants can gather information on hydroponic system suppliers.
To register visit the online registration page or download the program registration from the event page on the Rutgers website.
