Two Canadian greenhouse growers – JemD Farms and Mastronardi Produce -- are among Canada’s Best Managed Companies for 2012.
Established in 1993, Canada's Best Managed Companies is a national business awards program that recognizes excellence and innovation in Canadian-owned and -managed companies that have revenues over $10 million.
According to a news release, growth was top priority for the 2012 awards program. Winners’ revenue grew by 14% to approximately $5.4 billion, and income grew by approximately 24%.
“We are absolutely thrilled to have been chosen to be a part of such a wonderful group of award winners and to be receiving this prestigious award,” said Jim DiMenna, president of JemD Farms, in a company statement. “Our company goal of constant evolution and continual growth is very important for our team, having this award bestowed upon our company is truly an honor.” JemD Farms is a Canadian-/Mexican-owned greenhouse company offering North American customers produce year-round.
Mastronardi Produce grows, markets and ships a wide array of gourmet greenhouse tomatoes, peppers and cucumbers throughout Canada. This is the fourth consecutive year for Mastronardi to be named in the awards, making the company a 2012 Gold Standard winner. The Gold Standard honor is reserved for companies that make the list for more than three years.
Canada’s Best Managed Companies is sponsored by Deloitte, CIBC, National Post, Queen’s School of Business and MacKay CEO Forums. 2012 winners will be honored at the annual Best Managed gala in Toronto in April.
