CARY, N.C. — KENJA® 400 SC fungicide from Summit Agro USA is now state registered.
The group 7 fungicide provides a new weapon against botrytis gray mold in strawberries and Sclerotinia drop in lettuce, both serious diseases which can devastate yields.
"KENJA's chemistry – the actual molecule – is different. A 4th generation SDHI fungicide, not only does KENJA provide exceptional in-season disease protection it's unique chemistry helps to minimize SDHI resistance potential," said Jim Sturges, Summit Agro regional manager.
When applied as last spray before harvest, KENJA can add days to post-harvest shelf life, so growers can get more high quality fruit to market. KENJA is also active on other key strawberry diseases, including powdery mildew and anthracnose.
In either direct seeded or transplanted lettuce KENJA provides effective control of Sclerotinia drop (Sclerotinia sclerotiorum and Sclerotinia minor) and can easily mesh with current disease management programs, according to a press release. The product label provides specific use instructions for both crops.
"Strawberry and lettuce growers face tough challenges – not just up to harvest, but all the way to market," said Sturges. "Summit Agro is proud to provide a new product for these high value growers, so they can see higher quality and sales, while managing resistance and safety."
