Research conducted by Michigan State University questions how transplant trays with higher cell counts might affect a grower's bottom line.
The results indicate that growers wanting to save money by growing transplants in smaller-celled trays should not use small cell sizes for those plantings planned for early harvest, but they could use small cell sizes for mid- and late-season plantings.
