Nielsen, the information company that measures consumer behavior and data, has released sales figures for food and alcoholic beverage sales for the week before and the week of the 4th of July.

• Top Meat Products: Beef: $803,913,801, Chicken: $371,033,352, Pork: $217,524,053, Processed Lunch Meat:$161,073,421, Bacon: $133,629,285
• Popular Produce: Berries: $199, 610, 311, Cherries: $130,769,394, Tomatoes: $114,693,628, Value-added fruit: $110,193,797, Value-added vegetables: $66,179,377
• Leading Seafood Sales: Shrimp: $85,137,574, Salmon: $48,357,821, Prepared Seafood: $40,219,063, Crabs: $16,594,597, Tilapia: $16,510,897
• Salty snacks totaled more than $1.15 billion!
• Leading Condiments: Ketchup: $37 million, Mustard: $25 million, Pickles & Relish: $49 million

Flavorful Additions.. And that goes for alcohol:
• Meat Sauces Leading Growth: Worcestershire: +9.8%, Teriyaki:+%7.7%, Hot Sauce: +5.5%
• Rosé: represents 1.5% of the total table wine category and is worth more than $207 million annually
o Growing at 53% in the 52 weeks ending April 22, 2017 and 70% alone in the four weeks ending April 22, 2017.
• Sparkling Rosé sales and growing at 19%, more than double the total sparkling wine category’s 9% dollar growth.
• Flavored Malt Beverages (FMBs) & Coolers: Worth $2.5 billion annually, annual dollar sales increasing 4.9% (for the 52 weeks ending April 22, 2017)
• Favored spirits: Represent more than $1.7 billion in annual consumer purchases,
o Flavored vodka ($763 million), flavored whiskey ($718 million) and flavored rum ($226 million) lead the flavored spirit category.
• Hard seltzers: Worth $60 million annually, growing over 900% in the last year alone!
