The Ohio State University Extension is hosting a month-long educational session for new and aspiring farmers. The Northeast Ohio Small Farmer College will host one educational session a week through the month of October, starting October 6 and concluding October 27.
- The October 6th session will be titled "Getting Started" and will cover the foundation of the farming business.
- The second session on October 13th will be titled "Enterprise Selection" and will help participants decide what to raise or grow.
- The third session, October 20th, will be titled "Marketing & Resources for Small Farmers." The session will help participants build a marketing direction for their small business.
- The final session on October 27th will be titled "Learning from the School of Hard Knocks."
Participants will receive a light meal prior to each session at 5:30 p.m. The registration fee for this college is $100 for the first registrant from each family and $60 for each family registrant thereafter. Call the Ashtabula County OSU Extension office at 440-576-9008 to make your reservations or to receive more information. Reservations are requested by Monday, September 25, 2014 and the class will be limited to the first 35 registrants.
