OHP has announced the introduction of Kopa Insecticidal Soap to its portfolio of OHP biosolutions, according to a press release. Kopa insecticidal soap is a potassium salt of fatty acid soap that controls insects, mites and powdery mildew. The product is the latest of several additions to the OHP biosolutions segment of new tools and proven solutions for the greenhouse and nursery including vegetables and herbs production.
Kopa insecticidal soap is approved for organic production and is OMRI listed.
"Kopa is a great addition to our OHP biosolutions products, aimed at growers who are using not only conventional, but other means of pest control,” says Dan Stahl, OHP vice president and general manager. "It is a great rotational tool for an insect and mite control program, whether biological or conventional.”
Kopa provides fast broad-spectrum activity on foliar insects in the greenhouse, nursery, and landscape markets.
"When Kopa is applied, the spray solution coats the insects or mite pest and causes suffocation and or desiccation. This action results in a quick knockdown. Additional due to its short residual it is ideal for programs using beneficial insects or predators. Growers should introduce predators the next day or make sure not to contact them with the spray” says Dr. Bográn.
Dr. Bográn notes Kopa should be used at the first sign of pest infestations for optimal results and in a rotation with products from different classes with different modes of action. Kopa carries a 12-hour Restricted Entry Interval (REI) and Caution signal word.
