Tulsa, Oklahoma food bank receives two Growtainers

The products allow the organization to grow needed leafy greens year round.

The Community Food Bank of Eastern Oklahoma Fresh Produce Program distributes fresh fruits and vegetables to their Partner Programs throughout Oklahoma. Access to fresh produce is often limited by grocery store access and budget restrictions for low income individuals. 25 percent of the food distributed by the Food Bank is fresh produce according to a press release.

A few months ago, Eileen Bradshaw, the food bank's Executive Director, and Ryan Walker, the Chief Operating Officer, invited Glenn Behrman of CEA Advisors up for a visit. After spending a few hours at the Food Bank and seeing the work that this organization does, Behrman agreed to provide two Growtainers at a reduced price and to provide ongoing support for the Food Bank’s mission.

On Saturday, Oct.16, the first two Growtainers were delivered and set up. Complete with LED lighting, CEA’s proprietary Growrack system and climate and environmental controls these indoor farms can produce a substantial amount of the Food Bank’s leafy greens requirements 12 months a year.
