Imagine what's under the streets of London.
We're guessing fresh produce wasn't the first thing that popped into your head. But it's exactly what's growing beneath the asphalt and cement. Zero Carbon Food has started a 2.5 acre farm beneath the bustling U.K. metropolis. Its underground produce should hit shelves in March, according to the Huffington Post.
Zeri Carbon Food's first products will include broccoli, mustard, Thai basil, coriander, chives, and red vein sorrel. The facility includes a three-layer growing platform, a water-cycling system, and LED bulbs to control underground temperature and moisture levels.
