The University of California-Davis (UC Davis) is the recipient of an $18.75 million research grant. The funding will be used to study fruit and vegetable production across the globe and how it can be improved.
According to the university's website, "The award extends for five more years a research program established at UC Davis in 2009 as the Horticulture Collaborative Research Support Program. Recently, the program was renamed the Feed the Future Innovation Lab for Collaborative Research on Horticulture."
To this point, the program has examined 30 nations and trained more than 30,000 individuals. The program has focused on creating regional hubs in Thailand, Kenya and Honduras.
