The last stop for the 2014 Farm Bill is the desk of President Barack Obama.
The Senate approved the measure this afternoon, ending two-years of gridlock on the issue. The bill passed the Senate chamber with strong bi-partisan support, tallying a vote of 68 to 32. It passed the House on Jan. 29 by a vote of 251-166.
The more than 950 page bill authorizes $1 trillion in spending and reauthorizes programs for dairy, conservation, research, nutrition, and crop insurance. The Food Stamp program will suffer a cut of roughly one percent and a Direct Payment program has been eliminated.
