The 2016 Sidney B. Meadows scholarship application is now open, according to release from the scholarship endownment fund on Jan. 4. Scholarships are awarded, through a competitive process, administered by a selection committee based on academics, character, determination, probability of a career in horticulture, and financial need.
In 2015, twelve $1,500 scholarships were awarded, totaling $18,000. The number and amount of scholarships awarded each year is determined by the board of directors based on the fund's income (interest and dividends) from the previous year.
Scholarship applications for the 2016 year a now available. Deadline for application is May 27th. Selections will be made by July 6, and recipients will be notified soon thereafter. Awards will be made August 31 in Athens, Georgia during SNA 2016.
