Prospiant, a U.S. provider of controlled environment agriculture greenhouse solutions, has appointed Tony Abbas as the company’s new vice president of sales and business development.

Abbas will report directly to Prospiant President Burk Metzger.

“Appointing Tony as the vice president of sales and business development for Prospiant is a pivotal step in advancing our One Prospiant strategy,” Metzger said. “Tony brings a unique skill set, deep expertise in the CEA space and the vision, drive and energy necessary to lead and execute our new sales and business development strategy.”

Abbas has more than a decade of experience in large-scale CEA, with leadership and operational expertise. In his most recent position as director of business development at Prospiant, Abbas led sales and business development efforts across Canada, coordinating factory and field resources for successful project execution. He also worked closely with Prospiant’s U.S. team, arranging expert support from Canada when needed.

His background includes project management, strategic planning, operations management and business development.

Prior to his move to Prospiant in 2023, Abbas served as chief operating officer at PharmHouse, where he led the successful retrofit of a 30-acre tomato greenhouse for cannabis cultivation and extraction. Before that, he held a regional leadership role at Grodan, a global supplier of growing media.

“I am truly honored to accept this role, as I wholeheartedly believe in Prospiant and the proven partner approach we take with our customers,” Abbas said. “We are invested in their success and look forward to the bright CEA future in Canada and the U.S.

“We are the only turn-key builder with significant experience that has operations and fabrications on both sides of the border. That’s something to be excited about, and I plan to shout it from the mountaintops. Thank you to my colleagues for their continued support. It takes a team to do what we do, and we have a great one.”
